KETIJA BILINSKA SENTENCED IN LINCOLN FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ASSAULT

Ketija Bilinska, born circa 1967 and residing on Cannon Street in Lincoln LN2, was convicted in 2025 for animal cruelty and assault. The Latvian national was involved in an incident at the Dog and Bone pub in Lincoln City Centre on November 8, 2024, where she was accompanied by her small Chinese crested dog. During the altercation, Bilinska lost her temper and began hitting her dog. When four bystanders attempted to intervene, she also assaulted them.

Police responded to the scene, detained Bilinska, and she was later charged. The small dog was not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

At Lincoln Magistrates’ Court, Bilinska was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and assault by beating. She received a 10-week prison sentence for the assault and an additional 8 weeks for causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

In March 2024, she had previously been given a six-month suspended sentence for causing actual bodily harm (ABH). Because her dog attack occurred within the one-year probation period, her earlier 26-week suspended sentence will run concurrently with her current 18-week sentence, totaling 44 weeks in custody.

Furthermore, Bilinska received a lifetime ban on owning, keeping, or controlling animals. The dog involved in the incident was subject to a deprivation order and will be rehomed. She was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victims.

DC Gemma Oxby, the dog legislation officer, stated: “This case demonstrates that our community will not tolerate cruelty to animals, especially when individuals intervene to protect vulnerable animals from their owners. The court has made it clear that such vile behaviour will not be tolerated.”
