KENNETH MCGRATH BRIGHTON STRIP CLUB OWNER JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN MAJORCA

In December 2017, a disturbing case emerged involving Kenneth McGrath, the owner of the Pussycat Club located in Brighton, who was convicted of engaging in illegal sexual activities with a minor. The incident took place in 2015 on McGrath's private yacht in Majorca, a popular Spanish island known for its vibrant tourism scene.

McGrath, aged 61 at the time, had traveled to Majorca with the intention of recruiting a young woman to serve as a hostess for hen parties aboard his yacht. The teenager, who was only 17 years old, was recommended to him through a mutual acquaintance. What was supposed to be a professional engagement quickly turned sinister when McGrath exploited her vulnerability and took advantage of her presence on his vessel.

According to court records, upon her arrival, McGrath coerced the young girl into engaging in sexual acts. It was revealed that he even fabricated a document that purported to be her employment contract, which falsely claimed her consent to participate in sexual activities as part of her job responsibilities. This manipulation was part of his calculated effort to justify his actions and to exploit her isolation and youth.

The court found that McGrath deliberately took advantage of her situation, using her vulnerability to pressure her into sexual acts. The conviction was for paying for the sexual services of a minor, a serious offense that underscores the gravity of his misconduct. On November 10, McGrath was found guilty and subsequently sentenced to three years in prison. His conviction also entails lifelong registration as a sex offender, reflecting the severity of his crimes.

In addition to his imprisonment, McGrath was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which imposes strict restrictions on his conduct. The order prohibits him from providing any massage services or taking photographs of girls under the age of 18 without explicit parental or guardian consent. It also bars him from engaging in any employment that could involve contact with minors. Furthermore, McGrath is not permitted to possess any digital devices capable of capturing images unless they are available for police inspection. Importantly, he is also ordered to refrain from any contact with the victim.

Despite the conviction, McGrath was acquitted of two counts of sexual assault related to the same girl, highlighting the complexities of the case. His actions and subsequent sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding minors and the legal consequences faced by those who exploit their vulnerabilities in such heinous ways.
