KENNETH COENAN CAUGHT WITH OVER 250 EXTREME INDECENT IMAGES OF WOMEN AND DOGS IN SAWBRIDGEWORTH

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Sawbridgeworth, authorities uncovered a significant collection of highly disturbing material involving a local resident, Kenneth Coenan, who is currently battling throat cancer. The incident came to light when Essex Police executed a warrant at Quickbury Cottages on Hatfield Heath Road, where Coenan was residing at the time. During the raid, officers found him along with another individual, leading to the discovery of over 250 extreme indecent images and videos depicting women with dogs.

Coenan, aged 62 and formerly residing on Ash Groves in Sawbridgeworth, was taken into custody and subsequently appeared before Chelmsford magistrates. The court, citing the severity of the offences and their limited sentencing powers, decided to transfer the case to the Crown Court in Chelmsford for a more appropriate hearing. The magistrates declined jurisdiction on the grounds that the nature of the crimes warranted a higher court's authority, and scheduled the case for sentencing on December 22.

During the proceedings, Coenan admitted to possessing 33 movies and 238 still images at his residence. The police investigation revealed that the material was stored on his laptop, which he used to download the illicit content. Prosecutor Angela Mahadeo explained that Coenan was taken to Harlow police station, where he was interviewed and confessed to downloading the material. He claimed he was unaware that the images were illegal, asserting that he did not realize his E-Mule account, used for file sharing, could be accessed by others.

Ms. Mahadeo described the content as predominantly involving dogs with females, emphasizing the disturbing nature of the material. The images and videos were classified as extreme indecent content, involving acts that are considered highly illegal and morally reprehensible.

In his defense, Andrew Clowser highlighted that Coenan is a man of previously good character and is suffering from throat cancer. He stated, “None of the images involve children, but inevitably the Crown court will deal with it,” indicating that the case is serious and will be subject to the appropriate legal proceedings in a higher court.

As the case moves forward, the community and authorities await the upcoming sentencing, which will determine the legal consequences for Coenan’s actions. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of such heinous material, and raises concerns about the safety and morality of the community in Sawbridgeworth.
