KENNETH BLAKEY'S BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE IN EDINBURGH AND LANARK
Kenneth Blakey, a 27-year-old man from Edinburgh, has been sentenced to over two years in prison after a series of violent and controlling acts against two former partners. The court heard that Blakey engaged in a sustained campaign of domestic abuse, which included physical violence, intimidation, and threatening behavior, all carried out over a period of several months.
One particularly alarming incident involved Blakey forcing one of his victims to leave a vehicle, abandoning her on the roadside while she was eight months pregnant.
This act of reckless endangerment highlighted the severity of his abusive conduct.
The court also found that Blakey had physically struggled with the same woman inside her Edinburgh home and had unlawfully entered a bathroom while she was using it, further demonstrating his invasive and aggressive behavior.
The offences against the first partner took place starting from August 30, 2021, and included a pattern of controlling and abusive actions designed to dominate and intimidate her.
In addition to these incidents, Blakey was convicted of abusing a second partner by repeatedly making unwanted telephone calls, during which he uttered derogatory remarks and issued threats to kill her.
These threats were made at an address in Lanark between November 14, 2021, and January 30 of the following year.
The court also found Blakey guilty of further aggressive acts in Lanark, including shouting, swearing, and issuing threats of violence towards a friend of the second woman.
On January 4 last year, he was seen brandishing a wooden pole at the Lanark address, escalating his threatening behavior.
Moreover, Blakey had previously breached bail conditions set by Edinburgh Sheriff Court on December 8, 2021, which further underscored his disregard for legal restrictions and the safety of those around him.
These convictions reflect a disturbing pattern of domestic violence and intimidation, leading to his imprisonment.
The court's decision underscores the seriousness with which such offenses are treated, especially when they involve vulnerable individuals and repeated breaches of court orders.
