PLYMOUTH CARE WORKER BANNED FROM BEING AROUND FEMALES UNDER 18 AFTER ADMITTING SEXUAL OFFENCES
A care worker from Plymouth named Ken Wood, aged 59, has been sentenced after admitting to two criminal charges involving vulnerable persons.
He appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on July 21, where he pleaded guilty to causing a vulnerable person to watch a sexual act and to engage in sexual activity.
The court imposed two six-month jail sentences for each offence, but these were suspended for 18 months.
Additionally, Wood was ordered to participate in a 30-day rehabilitation activity.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also issued, preventing him from having 'any unsupervised contact with any female child under the age of 18 or any vulnerable person.' The order specifies that a vulnerable person is defined as someone with a learning or physical impairment, a mental illness, or a reduction in mental or physical capacity.
Exceptions to this order include inadvertent contact not reasonably avoidable, or contact with the permission of the child's or vulnerable person's parent or guardian, provided they have been informed of the convictions and have received written consent from social services.
Furthermore, Wood is prohibited from directly or indirectly contacting a specific female for seven years and has been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for the same duration.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
