KEMAL ROMA FROM HASTINGS SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR SERIAL SEX OFFENSES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the Hastings community, Kemal Roma, a 39-year-old man with no fixed address but known to be from the Hastings area, has been sentenced to a significant prison term after being convicted of multiple serious sex offenses. The crimes, which spanned over two years from March 2012 to September 2014, involved the sexual assault and rape of six teenage girls, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior.

Roma faced a total of eight charges in connection with these offenses. The charges included one count of rape and seven counts of sexual assault, with some acts involving penetration and others involving touching. The incidents all took place within the boundaries of Hastings, a seaside town known for its historic charm but now marked by this troubling case.

Following a detailed legal process, Roma was brought before Lewes Crown Court, where he was found guilty of all charges. The court sentenced him last Friday, March 13, to a prison term of 12 years. In addition to his incarceration, Roma will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities post-release. Furthermore, he will be subject to a lifelong sexual offences prevention order, which aims to prevent any further harm and restrict his contact with vulnerable individuals.

Detective Constable Andrew Smith commented on the case, emphasizing the courage of the victims who came forward. He stated, “This was a difficult case to progress and it took the victims a great deal of courage to come forward and to stand up and be counted against a defendant who is considered to be a manipulative bully. A serial calculating sex offender has now been convicted and received appropriate punishment for his disgusting crimes against vulnerable victims.”

The conviction and sentencing mark a significant step in addressing the crimes committed by Roma and serve as a reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable members of the community from predatory individuals.
