KEITH ADAMS SENT TO PRISON FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN WELWYN AND WOOLMER GREEN

In April 2012, Keith Adams, a man from Woolmer Green, was sentenced to a total of 26 months in prison following his conviction on multiple charges related to sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl. The case, heard at St Albans Crown Court, revealed disturbing details about Adams' inappropriate behavior and the breach of trust he committed as a school supervisor.

Keith Adams, aged 50, was employed at a secondary school in Welwyn Hatfield starting in 2008. Over time, he developed a troubling relationship with a teenage girl, which eventually led to criminal proceedings. The court was informed that Adams, who was separated from his disabled wife, maintained contact with the girl through long telephone conversations, during which he expressed concern about his calls being traced, indicating a level of secrecy and intent to conceal their communication.

According to the prosecution, Isabel Delamere, Adams and the girl went for a walk in the woods in December 2009, during which Adams kissed her on the lips. The relationship escalated further in February 2010 when the girl visited Adams' flat. There, he kissed her again, touched her buttocks, and engaged in a sexual act. These incidents raised alarm among her friends, one of whom became concerned that Adams and the girl might be planning to have full sexual intercourse, prompting her to alert the authorities.

Following the warning, police raided Adams' residence in Woolmer Green, where they discovered 49 indecent movies of children stored on his computer. Adams, who is a father of one, was arrested and subsequently faced multiple charges. During the trial, which was a retrial after an initial conviction, Adams was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child. He also admitted to seven charges of downloading indecent movies of children and possessing such material on his computer.

Defense lawyer Sarah Przybylska argued that there was no coercion involved and that the girl was willing to participate in the activities. She emphasized that the incidents were isolated and that there was no prolonged grooming process. However, Judge Andrew Bright QC dismissed these claims, stating that the girl’s willingness was irrelevant given Adams' position of authority and the breach of trust involved.

Judge Bright sentenced Adams to 21 months for the sexual activity with the girl and an additional five months for possessing indecent movies. Furthermore, Adams was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was subjected to a sexual offences prevention order for ten years. This order prohibits him from accessing pornographic websites and from being alone with females under the age of 16, aiming to prevent any future misconduct.

Keith Adams' case highlights the serious consequences of abusing a position of trust and engaging in illegal sexual activities, especially involving minors. His actions have led to a significant prison sentence and strict supervision measures to protect the community from further harm.
