NORTHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER
Keiran Brodie, a man previously residing in Northampton, was convicted in 2011 of causing a child under the age of 16 to witness a sexual act. Following his conviction, he was registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register and issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which mandated strict conditions to prevent reoffending. These conditions required him to inform police of any new bank accounts or online profiles he created. However, on April 29 of this year, Northamptonshire Police’s MOSOVO team conducted an unannounced visit to his residence and discovered email addresses and bank accounts that Brodie had failed to declare. Further investigations revealed he had also set up accounts on platforms like LinkedIn, Snapchat, Quora, and Instagram without informing authorities. Brodie was immediately detained and charged with breaching his SHPO. He admitted guilt earlier this month at Northampton Crown Court and was subsequently sentenced to one year and nine months in prison. PC Will Corlett from the MOSOVO team emphasized the importance of strict management of registered sex offenders, stating, "We take a zero-tolerance approach to any breaches, regardless of how minor they may seem. No one gets a second chance; offenders are arrested and dealt with decisively, often resulting in custodial sentences. This case highlights our determination to uphold safety in Northamptonshire."
