WAKEFIELD MAN KARL DAVISON SENTENCED TO 24 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN LEEDS

A man from Wakefield has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences committed against young children in Leeds. Karl Davison, aged 43 and residing at Turnberry Gardens, Tingley, was involved in a series of disturbing incidents last summer that targeted vulnerable minors.

According to court records, Davison approached his young victims while riding an electric scooter, which he used as a means to engage with them. During these encounters, he would often initiate conversations about the scooter or even allow the children to ride it, seemingly to gain their trust before committing his offences. The crimes took place over two days, August 6 and 7, in various locations including Thorpe, Middleton, and Belle Isle. The victims, all female and as young as 10 years old, suffered sexual assaults that included touching and, in one case, assault by penetration.

Following a detailed investigation, police officers in Lofthouse managed to apprehend Davison in the early hours of August 8. He was stopped while riding a vehicle matching his description. Despite attempting to provide false personal details, officers quickly identified him and took him into custody. A subsequent search of his residence uncovered a mobile phone containing a significant number of explicit images involving children. Davison admitted to possessing indecent images of minors prior to his trial, further confirming his involvement in the offences.

His trial at Leeds Crown Court concluded in February, resulting in a conviction on multiple counts. These included three counts of sexual touching on a child under 13, one count of assault by penetration on a child under 13, and one count of sexual assault on a child under 16. The court heard that the offences involved five female victims, with the youngest being only 10 years old.

On April 8th, Davison was sentenced to 17 years in prison, with an additional 7-year extended license period to follow his release. The court also imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his access to certain areas within Wakefield and Leeds. Furthermore, he will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
