KAMRAN MAHMOOD SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR RAPE IN TELFORD AT MATURE CLUB & COCKTAIL BAR

A man aged 33 has been handed a six-year prison sentence after being convicted of a serious sexual assault. Kamran Mahmood, who resides on Harvey Crescent in Wellington, Telford, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Thursday, 18 January, following his conviction for a rape incident that occurred in November 2022.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Mahmood, then 32 years old, committed the assault on an 18-year-old woman within the female toilets of the popular local venue, the Mature Club & Cocktail Bar, situated on The Parade in Wellington. The victim and the offender did not have any prior acquaintance, which underscores the random and unprovoked nature of the attack.

Following police investigations and appeals to the public, law enforcement officers were able to swiftly identify and apprehend Mahmood. His arrest was a direct result of the community's cooperation and the diligent efforts of the police.

Detective Inspector Steve Goddard commented on the case, emphasizing the importance of the court's decision. He stated, "I hope the sentence given to Mahmood sends a clear and strong message that we can and do take all reports of rape seriously and will work tirelessly to secure charges against those responsible."
