KALIM KHAN IN VICTORIA DOCK AVOIDING PRISON AFTER VIEWING CHILD ABUSE VIDEOS IN JULY 2017
In July 2017, Kalim Khan, aged 32, was involved in a case concerning the possession of disturbing indecent images of children.
Police had seized his laptop during a search at his home on Plimsoll Way, Victoria Dock, on November 21 of the previous year, following reports that he was downloading such material.
Officers uncovered nearly 100 videos depicting children as young as five or six being sexually abused and raped.
Forensic analysis classified 54 videos as Category A—the most severe—alongside 12 Category B videos and 27 Category C videos.
Additionally, there was one still image categorized as B and five as C.
Prosecutor Phillip Evans told Hull Crown Court, "Some of these are short clips lasting only a second or two, but others extend for up to a quarter of an hour.
The evidence indicates very young children were involved, with some images showing children as young as five or six years old." Khan admitted to police that he possessed the images and used them as a sexual stimulus, although he stated there was no distribution involved.
During the hearing, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC remarked, "I can scarcely believe that a man like you, aged 32, from a responsible background, holding a responsible job, who is intelligent, and has a decent family life, could engage in viewing material of the kind I have just read about." Khan pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images of children.
He was given a three-year community order, which requires him to attend 35 sessions of the Northumbria group sex offender programme, undergo up to 40 days of rehabilitation, and pay £400 in prosecution costs within 28 days.
The judge emphasized ongoing supervision, warning Khan that disengagement from the programme would result in prison, stating, "If you in any way disengage from the programme then I’m afraid you will come before me, and prison it will be—I can guarantee that." Furthermore, Khan was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration.
