WORCESTER MAN COULD FACE JAIL AFTER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENTS
Justin Rushgrove, a 44-year-old father of two, was implicated in incidents of domestic violence involving his girlfriend.During his appearance at Worcester Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to three charges: assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and common assault.
Prosecutor Sumreen Asfar described the relationship as 'volatile and toxic' and provided details of two specific episodes.
The first, occurring on October 15, took place at his residence in The Green, Hallow, where Rushgrove was reportedly intoxicated and attacked his girlfriend.
He allegedly pushed her against a wall multiple times, roughly five or six, seized her around the neck, and muffled her mouth to prevent her from shouting.
Additionally, he threw her belongings outside, breaking her mobile phone.
This altercation prompted neighbors to intervene after she called for help and was forcibly pushed from the property.
The second incident happened four months later, involving Rushgrove allegedly gripping the victim's neck, shouting at her, and kneeling on her, which caused her back pain.
Following this, police detained him.
The victim sustained injuries including a sore throat, bruises on her shoulder, back, and right arm, along with headaches from being pushed against the wall.
His defense acknowledged he was intoxicated during both episodes and claimed he had taken steps to address his alcohol problems, expressing remorse over his behavior and stating he 'didn’t like himself.' The magistrates decided the case was suitable for sentencing and requested a pre-sentence report.
Rushgrove is scheduled for sentencing at Redditch Magistrates Court on July 11.
