JUSTIN BELL CAUGHT IN CARLISLE PAEDOPHILE STING: SENTENCED BUT AVOIDS PRISON
In a case that has drawn significant attention in Carlisle, Justin Bell, a 49-year-old resident of Bannisdale Way, Morton, was brought to justice following his involvement in a disturbing online child sex offences case. The incident unfolded on Saturday, April 6th, 2019, when Bell was arrested after engaging in explicit conversations with individuals he believed to be underage girls.
Bell appeared before Carlisle’s Rickergate Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges.
These included two counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of attempting to communicate sexually with a child.
The court was informed that Bell had targeted online profiles he thought belonged to four schoolgirls, initiating contact with the intent to exploit them sexually.
According to court records, Bell’s actions were highly explicit.
He immediately sent sexual messages, clearly aiming to lure the girls into sexual activity.
His communications escalated to the point where he sent masturbation videos and images of his genitals, demonstrating a depraved level of predatory behavior.
However, it was later revealed that the supposed victims did not exist; they were, in fact, adult members of a paedophile hunting organization.
The court heard that Bell’s exposure was facilitated by a voluntary group known as ‘Confronted & Caught,’ which operates on behalf of another organization called ‘Secret Whispers.’ This group is dedicated to identifying and exposing online predators, and they successfully uncovered Bell’s attempts to exploit what he believed were underage girls.
In sentencing, the judge opted for a suspended prison term, handing Bell a 186-day sentence that will not be served unless he breaches certain conditions within the next two years.
Additionally, Bell was ordered to complete a sexual offences treatment and rehabilitation program.
He is also subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years and must register as a sex offender with the police for the same duration.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of community groups and law enforcement to combat online child exploitation, and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from predators operating in digital spaces.
