JULIAN WHITING, 50, FROM EATON FORD, ST NEOTS, BANNED FOR ONLINE CONTACT WITH YOUNG GIRLS IN PETERBOROUGH

In September 2012, Julian Whiting, a 50-year-old from Langwood Close, Eaton Ford, St Neots, was sentenced after admitting to multiple sexual offences involving young girls.

Whiting pleaded guilty to three counts of indecency with a child, one count of indecent assault, one count of sexual activity with a child, and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. These offences occurred over a period from January 2002 to August 2011 and involved six girls aged between eight and 13.

The court was told that Whiting exploited these girls over a span of nine years. He also communicated with them online through MSN and Facebook chat, sending inappropriate messages expressing his desire to kiss them and declaring his love.

At a hearing on August 21 at Huntingdon Crown Court, Whiting admitted all charges. On September 21, he was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court to a three-year community order, which includes three years of supervised contact and participation in a sexual offences treatment programme.

Furthermore, he was imposed with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that prohibits him from having any unsupervised contact with children under 16. He is also banned from communicating with children under 18 via letters, telephone calls, text messages, emails, or social networking sites unless explicitly authorised by the appropriate authorities.

Detective Constable Becky Mainwood commented, “One of his victims kept these terrible secrets to herself for more than 10 years. She only came forward because one of the other victims spoke out. All the girls involved were very brave, and it is thanks to their courage that this man has been brought to justice.”
