Julian Davies, a 46-year-old builder residing on Upland Road in the town of Pontllanfraith, found himself at the center of a serious criminal case following a violent incident that took place in front of his own children. The assault, which occurred on July 11 of the previous year, was detailed during a court hearing held at Cardiff Crown Court, revealing the extent of the brutality involved.

According to court reports, Davies launched a ferocious attack on his partner, characterized by aggressive and violent behavior. Witnesses described how he 'came flying' towards her, indicating a sudden and forceful approach. During the assault, Davies headbutted his partner, an act that caused significant concern due to its violent nature. Following this, he grabbed her by the arms, restraining her before delivering a kick to her back. It was also revealed that Davies had been consuming alcohol heavily during the period leading up to the attack, a time marked by increased alcohol intake during the Covid lockdown. This excessive drinking appeared to have contributed to his aggressive state of mind. Furthermore, the court was informed that Davies had been sending abusive messages to his partner, accusing her of 'breaking the family up.' The situation reached a boiling point when she returned home after working an 11-hour shift, which seemed to provoke his violent outburst.

During the hearing, it was noted that Davies's violence intensified as he shouted insults and physically assaulted his partner.
