BRISTOL MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING TWO TEENAGE GIRLS
A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing two teenage girls in the 1990s.Julian Abrahams, aged 55 and residing on Craydon Road in Bristol, was found guilty of rape along with three counts of indecent assault following a trial at Bristol Crown Court.
The victims were 15 and 16 years old at the time of the attacks.
In her victim statement, one survivor described Abrahams as "a very sick individual." The sentencing took place at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday.
The police were alerted to Abrahams in 2020 when one of the women, who was a teenager at the time, came forward.
She expressed a desire to prevent others from experiencing similar abuse and admitted she was still struggling emotionally.
In her statement, she shared: "Since I was 16, I have lived with constant torment, questioning my identity and blaming myself for that night.
I wondered if there was anything I could have done to stop it but realized I was vulnerable as a child, and the person responsible was a very sick individual." She also expressed hope that Abrahams might feel remorse someday, stating: "He denies everything and I doubt he will ever admit the truth, but I am grateful to have received the justice I sought." Detective Sergeant Kate Hughes from Avon and Somerset Police commented: "This sentence demonstrates that offenders like Julian Abrahams can be held accountable, no matter how much time has passed.
There is only one person responsible for this terrible abuse, and that is Abrahams."
