JOSHUA FOGG, DERBYSHIRE TEEN, SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL IMAGES SHARING ON SNAPCHAT

In September 2017, a teenager from Derbyshire was placed on the sex offenders' register following incidents involving inappropriate sharing of sexual images with two schoolgirls via Snapchat.

Joshua Fogg, 18, pleaded guilty to three charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and four charges of sexual activity with a child. He was sentenced to a 12-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 30 days of rehabilitation activities. Additionally, the court mandated that he register as a sex offender for five years and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

During the hearing at Nottingham Crown Court, the judge stated, “it would be wrong to describe you as a paedophile.”

The court was informed that a communication began when one of the girls started chatting with Fogg via Snapchat, sending him hundreds of images showing her naked chest and private areas. Fogg responded with images of himself, met up with her four times, and engaged in sexual activity. Prosecutor Ian Way explained, “Neither of them showed their faces on these images.”

The police were alerted after the mother of the second girl discovered inappropriate material on her daughter’s phone. She then sent Fogg a message, saying, “you are an adult, she is a child,” to which Fogg responded, “it is a joke, nothing more.”

Fogg later apologized, claiming he would remove the teenager from his social media accounts. The second girl had also sent him pictures of her chest after he asked for them, and he responded by sending pictures and videos of his private area.

Fogg, who had no previous convictions, was arrested and interviewed by police. Mr. Way noted, “Towards the end of the interview, he deeply regretted what he had done and acknowledged he shouldn’t have done it.”
