ILKESTON WOMAN BEATEN WITH BOOT, OFFENDER JAILED FOR THREE YEARS
A woman was left with a patterned mark on her neck after her long-term partner, Ian Foulke, attacked her with his boot.Derby Crown Court heard the woman was also strangled by Foulke, and she later told the police she had endured "seven years of ****" at the hands of her abuser.
The victim, from Ilkeston, was found by police at her property sitting on a sofa with her face covered in blood.
Foulke justified his actions by claiming the woman was "disrespectful" over a trivial matter—the absence of a pillow cover in his bedroom, according to Derbyshire Live reports.
The court sentenced him to three years in prison, with Judge Jonathan Straw describing the offence as "extremely serious" and expressing concern about Foulke's remarks in his pre-sentence report.
The prosecution detailed that on June 16 this year, a neighbor, who heard shouting and saw the woman distressed and crying, witnessed Foulke repeatedly striking her with his boot, at least ten times.
The police arrived promptly and found the victim with blood on her face and arms, and a badly injured nose, requesting the police not to enter, but admitting she had suffered abuse for seven years.
Foulke, of Glasshouse Hill, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He has previous convictions for violence against the same woman but had never been jailed before.
His lawyer stated that Foulke, who appeared via video link from HMP Nottingham, has been in custody for the first time in his life and expressed remorse.
Besides the prison term, Foulke received a five-year restraining order not to contact his ex-partner or visit her address in Ilkeston.
