HUDDERSFIELD MAN JAILED FOR STABBING GIRLFRIEND IN JEALOUS RAGE
Joseph Valvona attacked his girlfriend in a jealous ego-fueled rage, stabbing her eight times with an eight-inch knife.
According to court reports, Valvona was in a relationship with the woman for two years and they were living together at the time of the attack.
The incident began after a dispute when the woman caught Valvona on her phone and called him a 'weirdo' for looking through her messages.
Later, Valvona punched and kicked her before grabbing a knife and slashing her across the face, stabbing her twice in the back.
The woman described herself as 'fighting for her life' during the attack.
She managed to escape and call emergency services, but Valvona followed her outside, snatched her phone, and dragged her back inside.
Police officers found Valvona dripping with blood and arrested him; he was taken to hospital and later charged.
The victim suffered eight stab wounds and has since been unable to return to work, describing her experience as 'the worst week of my life.' Valvona pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and other related charges, with the court sentencing him to an extended sentence of ten and a half years, including a lockdown period of seven and a half years and a three-year extended licence.
The court also issued a restraining order against him.
