JOSEPH GALLAGHER FROM LONDONDERRY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST YOUNG NEIGHBOUR

In a case that has shocked the community of Londonderry, Joseph Gallagher, a 41-year-old care worker and charity fundraiser, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for serious sexual offenses committed against a young neighbor.

The crimes took place over a period spanning from 1990 to 1992, during which Gallagher was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency.

During the court proceedings, the presiding judge emphasized that probation was not considered a suitable punishment in this case.

The reason cited was Gallagher’s persistent denial of any wrongdoing, which contributed to the decision to impose a custodial sentence.

The court also took measures to protect the community and the victim by banning Gallagher from working with children or having any unsupervised contact with minors.

To safeguard the identity of the victim, Gallagher’s residential address was not disclosed in the court records.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, a standard requirement for individuals convicted of such serious offenses.
