JORDAN WILLIAM SANSOM OF CHESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL IN CHESTER AND DEESIDE

A man formerly residing in Chester, Jordan William Sansom, has been sentenced to prison for engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor girl. The case highlights a disturbing pattern of grooming and exploitation that took place over several months, involving the use of alcohol and drugs to manipulate a vulnerable underage girl.

Jordan William Sansom, aged 21, previously lived on Sycamore Drive in Lache, Chester, but had been residing on Deeside at the time of the offenses. His criminal history includes a prior conviction in May for the abduction of a runaway girl, for which he received a nine-month prison sentence. Although he was released after serving that sentence, he was later recalled to custody following new allegations that emerged against him.

The latest charges against Sansom involved five counts of sexual activity with a child, committed between December of the previous year and March of this year. These charges included acts of intercourse, which he admitted to during the trial. The proceedings took place at Mold Crown Court, where Judge Rhys Rowlands presided. The judge noted that, given the circumstances, the case had a starting point of five years, but considering the details, he sentenced Sansom to 32 months in prison. Additionally, he ordered Sansom to register as a sex offender for life.

During the court hearing, the judge emphasized the gravity of the case, stating that it involved regular sexual encounters with an underage girl. He pointed out that Sansom was fully aware of her age and had taken advantage of her vulnerability. The disparity in their ages was significant, and the judge condemned the defendant for exploiting her trust.

Prosecutor David Mainstone recounted the disturbing details of the case. He explained that the first sexual encounter occurred in a field beneath a tree, after Sansom repeatedly asked the girl if she wanted to engage in sex. The girl felt uncomfortable but believed she could not refuse his advances. She was left shocked and unable to believe what had transpired. The court was told that on that occasion, no contraceptives were used, and the same was true for subsequent encounters. The girl described having sex three or four times when sober, with additional encounters occurring while both were intoxicated by pills or alcohol.

Following the complaint, Sansom was arrested, and DNA evidence was recovered from his boxer shorts, linking him to the girl. A text message on his phone, reading “when we last had sex,” further implicated him in the offenses.

Robin Boag, representing the defendant, argued that Sansom accepted that drugs played a role in the incidents but insisted that the sex was not forced and that the girl was not coerced. He acknowledged that Sansom had issues that needed addressing but maintained that there was no evidence of violence or force, and that the sexual activity was consensual from his client’s perspective.

Judge Rhys Rowlands concluded that the case was serious, given the ongoing nature of the sexual activity and the defendant’s awareness of the girl’s age. He emphasized the importance of protecting minors from exploitation and sentenced Sansom accordingly, reflecting the severity of his actions and the need for lifelong registration as a sex offender.
