CHESTER MAN JORDAN SANSOM SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL IN CHESTER AND DEESIDE

In October 2018, a man formerly residing in Chester was sentenced to prison for engaging in unlawful sexual activities with a minor. Jordan William Sansom, aged 21, was previously convicted and imprisoned for the abduction of a runaway girl. However, he has now been re-sentenced following new allegations that surfaced against him.

According to court reports, Sansom had been involved in grooming the underage girl by providing her with alcohol and drugs, during which he manipulated her into believing she was mature enough to engage in sexual activities. He dismissed her age as irrelevant, asserting that he did not care about her youth. This behavior was uncovered after the girl came forward with her account of their encounters.

Previously, Sansom, who was then living on Sycamore Drive in Lache, Chester, had received a nine-month prison sentence in May for abducting the girl. He was released from that sentence but was later recalled to custody when the new allegations emerged. The case was brought before Mold Crown Court, where Judge Rhys Rowlands presided.

Judge Rowlands explained that the case carried a starting point of five years in prison, but considering the circumstances, he imposed a sentence of 32 months. Additionally, Sansom was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. The court heard that Sansom had admitted to five charges of sexual activity with a child, which took place between December of the previous year and March of the current year. These charges included acts of intercourse.

The judge emphasized that the case involved repeated sexual encounters with an underage girl. He pointed out that Sansom was fully aware of her age and had taken advantage of her vulnerability. The disparity in their ages was significant, and the judge condemned the defendant for exploiting her trust.

Prosecutor David Mainstone detailed the circumstances of their first sexual encounter, which occurred in a field beneath a tree. Sansom had persistently asked the girl if she wanted to have sex, and although she felt uncomfortable, she felt unable to refuse. She later expressed shock and disbelief at what had transpired. It was revealed that on that occasion, no contraceptives were used, and the same was true for subsequent encounters.

The girl recounted that they had sex three or four times when both were sober, but on other occasions, they were intoxicated by pills or alcohol. Following the formal complaint, Sansom was arrested, and forensic evidence linked him to the crime; DNA found on his boxer shorts matched that of the girl. Furthermore, a text message on his phone explicitly referenced their last sexual encounter, stating “when we last had sex.”

Judge Rowlands concluded that Sansom’s actions demonstrated a clear pattern of exploitation and abuse, leading to his imprisonment and lifelong registration as a sex offender, reflecting the severity of his misconduct in Chester and Deeside.
