JORDAN MORGAN'S DEVASTATING ARSON IN ACCRINGTON AND ST. ANNES REVEALED

Jordan James Morgan, who has previously resided on Bloomfield Road in Blackpool and as of July 2020 was living on Lydia Street in Accrington BB5 0PX, became notorious for a series of destructive acts that culminated in a tragic fire at an animal sanctuary, leading to the deaths of 26 rescue animals.

On March 23, 2011, the then 18-year-old Morgan, along with his accomplice Karl Heaton of Smithy Lane in St. Annes, deliberately set fire to the Easterleigh Animal Shelter located in St. Annes. This act of arson resulted in the heartbreaking loss of five cats, four kittens, 16 chickens, and a single rabbit. The blaze caused extensive damage to the shelter, with the total estimated cost of destruction reaching approximately £25,000. The incident was particularly devastating given the shelter's already fragile financial situation, which made the loss even more impactful for the local community and animal welfare organizations.

In addition to the arson at Easterleigh, Morgan and Heaton admitted to setting fire to multiple other locations in the area. These included the Fylde Scout headquarters on Heyhouse Lane, a Volkswagen van parked on Clarendon Road, and a garage situated on Church Road in St. Annes. These acts of vandalism and arson demonstrated a pattern of reckless destruction and disregard for property and safety.

Further complicating Morgan’s criminal record, he was later convicted of attempting to escape from Preston Prison by plotting a daring, Colditz-style breakout. During the trial related to the arson charges, Karl Heaton described Morgan as a ‘nutcase’ and characterized him as ‘crazy and spontaneous,’ highlighting the unpredictable and dangerous nature of his actions.

In November 2012, Morgan was sentenced to four years and four months in prison for his crimes. However, on appeal, his sentence was reduced to three years. His criminal activities and subsequent imprisonment drew significant media attention, with reports from the Blackpool Gazette providing detailed coverage of his case.

As of July 2020, Morgan’s life outside prison appeared to include caring for animals, as he was reported to have three dogs, one of which had recently given birth to 12 puppies. He also owned a cat. His current girlfriend described him as ‘a good egg,’ suggesting a more positive outlook on his character despite his past.

There is currently no new information available regarding Karl Heaton, including his mugshot or his present whereabouts. Any updates or details about his location would be highly valued by authorities and the public alike, given the severity of the crimes committed and the ongoing interest in his case.
