JORDAN HARVEY BURI SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED IN BOLTON COURT

In August 2015, Jordan Harvey, a man from Bury, was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl he had contacted through Facebook. The case was heard at Bolton Crown Court, where it was revealed that Harvey, aged 25 at the time, had persuaded the young girl to meet him, leading to a relationship that lasted for approximately three weeks.

According to the prosecution, Nigel Booth, Harvey was arrested on April 12 outside his residence on Massey Street, Bury, after police caught him in a taxi with the underage girl. Despite his arrest, Harvey continued to maintain contact with the teenager through messages and texts, which the court described as flirtatious in nature. It was during this period that Harvey suggested they meet in person, which the girl eventually did.

The court heard that the girl visited Harvey’s home, where they engaged in sexual activity on at least three separate occasions. The relationship began in March, with Harvey, who was aware of her age, initiating communication via Facebook and later through text messages. The court was informed that Harvey’s manipulative behavior persisted even after his arrest, as the girl believed that her parents and the police were being unreasonable, which contributed to her continued contact with him. However, she eventually ended the relationship due to Harvey’s controlling behavior.

During the proceedings, a statement from the girl was read aloud in court. She expressed her feelings about the relationship, stating, “I was in what I describe as a love bubble. I didn’t really understand how serious this was. I realize the relationship between me and Jordan wasn’t right and that a 25-year-old shouldn’t really be interested in a 15-year-old.”

It was also disclosed that Harvey had a prior criminal history involving sexual offenses. When he was 14 and 15 years old, he was convicted of sexually assaulting four different 15-year-old girls. Harvey pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child in March and April of the same year.

During his defense, Nicholas Clarke argued that although there was a significant age difference, Harvey and the girl were not so different intellectually. He also mentioned that Harvey had recently ceased using illegal drugs after years of substance abuse, implying some level of rehabilitation. Nonetheless, the court sentenced Harvey to four years in prison for his actions, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the impact on the young victim.
