CAMBRIDGE MAN JAILED FOR KNUCKLEDUSTER ATTACK AND CONTROLLING GIRLFRIEND
A man who assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face with a knuckleduster and then forced her to stay at home by padlocking doors and gates shut has been sentenced to jail. Jordan Fowler, 25, of no fixed abode, was handed a two-and-a-half year prison term at Cambridge Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing actual bodily harm and engaging in a controlling relationship. The court was told Fowler met his then-girlfriend on Facebook in May of the previous year using a fake name, Jordan Smith. The relationship lasted only four weeks before he showed possessiveness and jealousy. Fowler assaulted the victim multiple times, using a knuckleduster to punch her and strangling her until she nearly lost consciousness. He also made her stay indoors in St Neots, locking her in by padlocking doors and gates so she could not leave. Detective Constable Keith Evans praised the victim for her bravery in coming forward and working with authorities to bring Fowler to justice. He encouraged others going through similar experiences to seek help, emphasizing that help is available and they do not need to live under someone else’s control. Fowler received an 18-month sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a 12-month sentence for engaging in a controlling relationship, with both sentences to be served consecutively.
