JORDAN FORBES OF ABERDEEN INVOLVED IN ANIMAL ABUSE AND SEXUAL OFFENSES IN DUNDEE

In a recent series of criminal proceedings, Jordan Forbes, a resident of Aberdeen, has been linked to serious allegations involving both sexual offenses and animal cruelty. The case, which has garnered significant attention, highlights the troubling conduct of Forbes over a span of several years, with particular focus on incidents from his youth and subsequent neglect of animals under his care.

Initially, Forbes faced a high-profile trial at the High Court in Dundee, where he was accused of multiple sexual offenses. The court proceedings revealed that Forbes, then only 14 years old, committed acts of sexual assault against young girls near his home in St Fillans Road during the summer of 2013. Specifically, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl aged 10 or 11 at a property close to his residence, where he instructed her to follow him, kissed her, and physically seized her to kiss her again. Additionally, he was found guilty of attempting to kiss another girl, also aged 10, on the same street during that summer.

Despite these convictions, Forbes was not subjected to further punishment for the assaults committed when he was a schoolboy. The court, presided over by Lord Ericht, clarified that Forbes was free to leave the dock and would not face additional penalties for these past offenses. However, the court emphasized that the convictions would remain on his record, and under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, he would be required to register as a sex offender for five years.

In relation to the more recent allegations, the court examined evidence concerning Forbes' conduct in Aberdeen. It was revealed that he had abandoned pets, including dogs and a cat, in circumstances that caused them significant suffering. The case detailed how Forbes left a dog and a cat at his flat, with SSPCA officers having to feed them through a letterbox to prevent starvation. One of the dogs, a tan Bully named Duchess, was examined by a veterinarian on February 7, 2023, and was found to be severely underweight. The vet concluded that Duchess had suffered considerably and was euthanized on welfare grounds due to her condition.

Further investigations uncovered that another dog, Boujee, also suffered from neglect. Despite Cameron’s claims of attempting to seek veterinary care, she refused to have Boujee euthanized when her condition worsened. The SSPCA intervened after concerns were raised about Boujee’s health, and she was taken into care, showing signs of extreme malnutrition and lethargy. The situation escalated when a neighbor provided Ring doorbell footage showing Cameron attempting to bury a dead puppy in a yellow bag near her flat, which was later confirmed by a vet to be emaciated and suffering from malnutrition. The puppy’s body was recovered from the ground, revealing the tragic consequences of neglect.

Meanwhile, Forbes was also implicated in abandoning animals. On March 29, 2023, he collected the keys to his tenancy on Oldtown Place in Aberdeen. SSPCA officers attempted to access the property multiple times, and although no one was home, they could hear a dog inside. Eventually, they gained entry and found a three-and-a-half-year-old Bully named Bella and a one-and-a-half-year-old black cat named Rascal. Both animals were in poor health, with Bella suffering from skin issues, a prolapsed eye, and infections, all indicative of inadequate care and unsuitable living conditions.

Both Cameron and Forbes pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to animal cruelty. Cameron admitted to causing unnecessary suffering and the death of her pets, while Forbes acknowledged abandoning animals and neglecting their needs. The court heard that Cameron was struggling with mental health issues at the time, which contributed to her neglect, and she expressed remorse for her actions. Forbes’ defense highlighted his difficult childhood and recent personal losses, including the death of his grandfather, as factors influencing his behavior. Despite this, the sheriff emphasized that both individuals had demonstrated a lack of responsibility and trustworthiness in caring for animals.

Sentencing was handed down with Cameron receiving 150 hours of unpaid work, a one-year supervision order, and a five-year ban from owning animals, set to expire in August 2029. Forbes was sentenced to 90 hours of unpaid work, a nine-month supervision order, and a two-year ban on owning animals, which will last until August 2026. The court’s decision underscores the seriousness of their offenses and the importance of safeguarding animal welfare in Aberdeen and beyond.
