JORDAN CUNNINGHAM
Officers sought to speak with 30-year-old Jordan Cunningham of Church Square for repeatedly trying to contact his previous partner and for visiting her home in Galashiels on December 22.
Two days later, police caught up with Cunningham in Laurel Grove.
He responded in an aggressive manner, shouting, swearing, and making offensive comments based on sexual orientation, along with threats of violence.
He resisted being taken into custody in Marigold Drive and in a police van, resisting arrest by struggling with officers.
During the incident, Cunningham spat towards one constable.
He remained in custody over the Christmas period before appearing in court on December 30, where he pleaded guilty to four charges including breach of bail, threatening or abusive behavior, police obstruction, and assaulting an officer.
The sheriff, Peter Patterson, handed down four consecutive sentences totaling eight months, with the sentence backdated to December 24.
A non-harassment order was also issued, banning Cunningham from contacting his former partner for three years.
——————————————————— Stalking incident - 2017 Jordan Cunningham received prison sentences totalling 464 days after pleading guilty to charges on three separate complaints.
The 21-year-old admitted a stalking charge involving a woman he had a brief relationship with.
Cunningham engaged in a course of conduct likely to cause her fear and alarm at her home in Wood Street and elsewhere in Galashiels between August and October.
The woman, who suffers from a bipolar disorder, had a one night stand with Cunningham following the break-up of a 11 month relationship with her partner.
She described her condition at the time as "manic" and realised it had not been a good idea being involved with him and tried to distance himself from her.
But depute fiscal Tessa Bradley said Cunningham appeared to be "obsessed" with the woman and wanted a relationship with her.
