JONATHON OZANNE FROM BROMSGROVE FOUND GUILTY OF MAKING CHILD SEX IMAGES IN WORCESTER

In a recent court case at Worcester Crown Court, Jonathon Ozanne, a 57-year-old resident of Finstall Road in Bromsgrove, was convicted on multiple counts related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children. The jury unanimously found Ozanne guilty of three charges of producing indecent images of minors, as well as a separate count involving the possession of an extreme pornographic image that depicted an animal, which is considered particularly disturbing and illegal.

These images, which Ozanne had downloaded over a span of more than six years, specifically between January 31, 2009, and March 15, 2015, included some categorized as Category A. This category is reserved for the most severe types of child exploitation imagery, notably those showing penetrative sexual acts involving children. The other images fell into categories B and C, which are also serious but considered less extreme than Category A.

Throughout the trial, Ozanne maintained his innocence, denying any involvement in creating the images at the various categories. However, the evidence presented and the jury’s unanimous verdict led to his conviction. Following the verdict, Recorder John Benson QC imposed an interim sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect until September 8. This order restricts Ozanne’s access to electronic devices and explicitly forbids him from deleting his browsing history, aiming to prevent any further misuse of technology to access or distribute illegal content.

During the sentencing hearing, Recorder Benson emphasized the gravity of the first count, which involved the creation of Category A images. He described this as a “serious matter,” noting that the starting point for sentencing guidelines in such cases is immediate custody. The court decided to adjourn the case to allow the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report, which will inform the final sentencing decision.

Ozanne was granted bail under strict conditions, including a prohibition on any unsupervised contact with individuals under the age of 16, except where unavoidable in everyday circumstances. Additionally, he is barred from using any software that could grant him anonymity or access to the dark web, further restricting his ability to engage in illegal online activities. The sentencing is scheduled for September 7, when Ozanne is expected to learn his fate, which could include a custodial sentence given the severity of the charges and the nature of the images involved.
