JONATHAN TOMLINSON'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN HULL AND EAST RIDING VILLAGES

In December of the previous year, a disturbing series of incidents unfolded involving Jonathan Tomlinson, a 45-year-old man whose actions have left a trail of outrage and concern within the communities of Hull and the surrounding East Riding villages.

The events, which took place on December 6, 2016, were characterized by deliberate and predatory behavior targeting young girls, culminating in criminal charges that have now led to his conviction and sentencing.

According to court proceedings, Tomlinson was found parked near a school in one of the villages, where he engaged in inappropriate acts while staring at passing schoolgirls.

The first victim, a nine-year-old girl, was walking home when she noticed Tomlinson in his vehicle.

She observed him 'faffing with his w***y,' as she described, while he deliberately turned on the interior light of his car to make his actions more visible.

The girl reported the incident to her father, providing a detailed account of what she saw, which contributed to the police investigation.

Following this, Tomlinson's predatory behavior continued at a bus stop in another village.

There, he targeted two 12-year-old girls who had just disembarked from a school bus and were heading home separately.

One of the girls, while passing a car parked near a newsagent’s, saw Tomlinson turn on the interior light again, seemingly to attract attention.

She approached the vehicle and was shocked to see that Tomlinson was naked from the waist down and was performing a sexual act.

She also observed him looking directly at her during this act.

Despite speeding off, she managed to record part of the car’s registration number on her mobile phone, which later proved crucial in tracing Tomlinson.

Another girl, the third victim, encountered Tomlinson in a different street.

He repeated the same disturbing behavior before driving away towards a nearby shop.

She, too, called her mother and stayed on the phone until she reached home safely.

The police were alerted, and during questioning, Tomlinson initially claimed he had gone straight home after leaving work in Gilberdyke at 3 pm, denying any involvement in the incidents in the villages.

He stated he had stayed at home until 6 pm, when he went out for a takeaway and to meet his wife.

However, further police interviews revealed inconsistencies.

After his arrest on December 9, Tomlinson admitted that he had lied initially out of embarrassment, explaining that he had accidentally defecated in his underwear while driving to a shop.

He claimed that he stopped in a residential street, removed his trousers and boxer shorts, and cleaned himself while seated in his car.

Despite these explanations, he later admitted to stopping in the first village and performing a sexual act near a school, fully aware of the potential consequences.

His changing accounts and inability to convincingly explain how he was identified by one of his victims cast further doubt on his credibility.

In court, Tomlinson pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Judge Mark Bury described his behavior as 'quite appalling' and dismissed his explanation for being partially naked as 'totally ridiculous.' As a result, Tomlinson was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the community’s need for ongoing protection.

These incidents have sparked significant concern among residents of Hull and the East Riding villages, highlighting the importance of vigilance and community safety.

The case underscores the disturbing reality of individuals who exploit public spaces to commit sexual offenses, often targeting vulnerable children.

The court's decision aims to serve both as punishment and a warning to others who might consider similar actions in the future.
