LANCASTER MAN JONATHAN SHUTTLEWORTH ADMITS TO HAVING OVER 1,500 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Lancaster community, Jonathan Shuttleworth, a 56-year-old resident of Chequers Avenue, Lancaster, has pleaded guilty to possessing a vast collection of indecent images of children. The charges, brought before Preston Crown Court, reveal that Shuttleworth was found to have accumulated more than 1,500 illicit images, some of which depicted children suffering injuries, highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of his offenses.

During the court hearing, Shuttleworth admitted to seven charges related to the downloading and storage of these illegal images on his personal computers. The images were categorized into different levels of severity: 159 images classified as Category A, which is considered the most serious under law; 86 images categorized as Category B; and a staggering 1,074 images falling under Category C. In addition to these, he also acknowledged possessing several other prohibited images involving children, further compounding the gravity of his crimes.

Shuttleworth's admissions included three counts of creating indecent images and one count of possessing such images, along with possessing prohibited images. These offenses spanned a period from 2001 to 2014, indicating a prolonged period of illicit activity. Beyond the child exploitation images, he also admitted to possessing 38 extreme pornographic images that depicted acts likely to cause serious injury. Furthermore, he was found to have four extreme images involving animals, specifically horses and dogs, which are also considered highly illegal and disturbing.

When Shuttleworth appeared in court to enter his pleas, he was dressed in a suit and was allowed to stand at the back of the courtroom rather than in the dock, a decision made by the court authorities. The hearing was overseen by the Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Mark Brown. It is understood that Shuttleworth had used social media platforms and blogging websites to search for images of children and pre-teen girls, which likely facilitated his collection of these illicit materials.

Authorities confirmed that when his computers were seized, they uncovered the disturbing collection of images, confirming the extent of his illegal activities. The investigation into Shuttleworth's activities began with an initial interview in 2015, and he is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29. The case has raised serious concerns about online safety and the exploitation of children, prompting calls for increased vigilance and preventative measures within the community and beyond.
