JONATHAN PARRY AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HULL

A man identified as Jonathan Parry has been sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison after being found guilty of committing a series of heinous sexual crimes against two young children in Hull.

The case has shocked the local community and highlighted the disturbing nature of his offenses.

Parry, aged 29, residing on Somerscales Street, off Beverley Road in Hull, was convicted of a total of 18 criminal charges.

These included four counts of attempted rape, five counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, six counts of making indecent images of children, as well as charges of sexual assault, assault by penetration, and possession of prohibited images of children.

The severity and variety of these charges underscore the depravity of his actions.

The investigation into Parry’s crimes was initiated after he engaged in online communication with another man, during which he disclosed details of his abusive behavior.

The other individual, upon hearing about Parry’s activities, chose to end the conversation.

However, Parry later reinitiated contact and again mentioned his sexual abuse of a child.

This prompted the other man to report the matter to the police authorities.

Following the report, the National Crime Agency launched an extensive investigation that led to Parry’s arrest.

Authorities seized his laptop and mobile phone, which contained thousands of indecent images of children, including some classified as Category A, indicating the most serious level of child exploitation material.

The evidence was damning and played a crucial role in securing the conviction.

One of the victims, who was subjected to Parry’s abuse, expressed relief upon hearing of his impending arrest.

The victim stated that the arrest meant Parry could no longer harm them or others.

They also shared the painful reality that the memories of the abuse would likely stay with them forever, and they would have to learn to live with the trauma.

The victim’s statement reflected the profound impact such abuse has on young lives.

During the court proceedings, Parry’s legal representative, David Godfrey, emphasized that his client had pleaded guilty at an early stage of the process.

This early admission spared the victims from the ordeal of testifying in court and undergoing cross-examination.

Mr.

Godfrey acknowledged Parry’s remorse, stating that he accepted full responsibility for his actions and recognized their abhorrent nature.

He also highlighted that Parry expressed a desire to apologize and understood the lasting damage caused.

Despite his guilty plea, Parry had no prior criminal convictions.

The court, presided over by Recorder Taryn Turner, described his actions as a “raft of serious sexual offences” and condemned his conduct as “appalling and disgraceful.” The judge noted that Parry’s behavior was depraved and suggested that he appeared to have derived some pleasure from his crimes against children.

In addition to the prison sentence, Parry was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order, both of which are indefinite.

He is also required to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

Following the sentencing, Helen Shackleton of Humberside Police publicly thanked the victims for their bravery and cooperation throughout the investigation.

She emphasized that while the pain inflicted cannot be erased, the lengthy sentence ensures that Parry will remain incarcerated for a significant period, preventing him from causing further harm to others.

Her comments underscored the importance of community safety and the justice system’s role in protecting vulnerable individuals from predators like Parry.
