JONATHAN HUTTON SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR DECADES OF SEXUAL ABUSE IN LINCOLN AND BEYOND
A man identified as Jonathan Hutton has been handed a life sentence in prison following his conviction for a series of heinous sexual offenses that spanned over two decades.The 39-year-old, residing on Campus Way in Lincoln, was found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault committed between 2001 and 2023, with the crimes taking place across several counties including Norfolk, Cheshire, and Lincolnshire.
Hutton appeared before King's Lynn Crown Court today to face sentencing after a jury delivered a guilty verdict in October, following a comprehensive 12-day trial that examined the extensive evidence against him.
The court heard that Hutton was responsible for six counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of sexual touching, all involving four different victims over the course of 22 years.
All of the victims testified that the sexual acts were carried out without their consent, describing the encounters as physically and emotionally abusive.
One victim recounted a particularly traumatic incident where Hutton pushed her down the stairs and held her head underwater in a bath, illustrating the level of violence and control he exerted during the assaults.
The presiding judge described Hutton as a sociopathic, misogynistic, and calculating individual who demonstrated a complete lack of remorse.
The judge characterized him as a dangerous and manipulative figure, whose actions have caused lasting harm to his victims.
Another victim described Hutton as 'unpredictable and scary,' emphasizing the fear and intimidation he instilled.
Norfolk Police conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations, which led to Hutton's arrest in April while he was a student at the University of Lincoln.
The police emphasized that Hutton's long history of offending only came to light due to the bravery of his victims, some of whom endured their suffering in silence for many years.
Hutton will serve a minimum of 14 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole.
Additionally, he will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Detective Constable Jack Moore commented on the case, stating, "Hutton had a long history of offending which has only come to light due to the bravery of his victims, some of whom have suffered in silence for many years.
He is a clear danger to women, and I hope this sentence gives his victims some sense of justice and peace.
Their actions have doubtless saved other future victims from harm." The victims received support throughout the legal process through various services, including Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs).
The police and court officials hope that this substantial sentence will serve as a reassurance to other victims of sexual crimes, demonstrating that their voices will be heard and that perpetrators like Hutton will face severe consequences for their actions.
