JONATHAN BYRAM FROM DEWSBURY BRUTALLY BEATEN IN PRISON REVENGE ATTACK AFTER HORRIFIC CHILD RAPE CASE IN LEEDS

In August 2019, a disturbing case unfolded involving Jonathan Byram, a man from Dewsbury who was convicted of a heinous crime against a young girl.

Byram, aged 50, was found guilty of raping a blindfolded four-year-old girl, an act that shocked the local community and drew widespread condemnation.

While awaiting sentencing at Leeds Crown Court, Byram was subjected to a brutal assault by his cellmate.

A photograph taken shortly after the attack reveals the extent of the violence inflicted upon him, showing deep cuts across his face and noticeable swelling above his right eye.

The assault was reportedly a form of revenge, possibly driven by the outrage and anger surrounding his criminal actions.

Last week, Byram was sentenced to 11 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge of rape.

During the sentencing hearing, his legal representative, Ketherine Robinson, highlighted the difficulties Byram was experiencing in prison, revealing that he had been assaulted by his cellmate.

Robinson stated, “He is struggling in prison.

He has been assaulted by his cell mate.

Others might think that is what he rightly deserves and he accepts that.” The court proceedings were momentarily disrupted when a man in the public gallery shouted an aggressive threat, saying, “You better give him life or else I will kill him.” Security personnel quickly intervened to restore order.

Prosecutor Rupert Doswell detailed the circumstances of the case, explaining that police were alerted after the young girl confided in a relative about her ordeal.

She provided a description of a tie used to blindfold her during the assault, which was subsequently found at Byram’s residence in Dewsbury.

This evidence played a crucial role in linking him to the crime.

It was established that Byram had previous convictions for arson, child cruelty, and assault, indicating a troubling criminal history.

He had already admitted to the rape during an earlier hearing, and his guilty plea was considered a mitigating factor in his sentencing.

His legal team emphasized that his remorse and understanding of the harm caused were significant aspects of his case.

Judge Neil Clark sentenced Byram to a minimum of ten years in prison, followed by an extended license period of one year.

Additionally, Byram was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, reflecting the severity of his crime and the ongoing risk he poses.

The judge underscored the profound psychological impact such offenses have on victims, stating, “The true effect of this type of behaviour is the psychological impact.

You can offer no explanation for what happened.

There must have been some sexual motivation for what happened.” Throughout the proceedings, the case drew attention to the devastating consequences of child abuse and the importance of justice for victims.

Byram’s case remains a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and stringent legal measures to protect society from such heinous acts.
