HIGHLAND RAPIST JONATHAN ANDERSON SENTENCED FOR DECADE-LONG ABUSE

A sex offender named Jonathan Anderson, aged 46, has been sentenced after a lengthy series of predatory crimes. Anderson preyed on two women in the Highlands over more than a decade, beginning in December 2010 and continuing until July 2021, perpetrating multiple instances of sexual abuse and assault. He was convicted of six charges, including two counts of rape, one of sexual assault, and one of assault with a danger to life, during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh. Despite denying the accusations initially, he was found guilty of all six offences. The crimes involved repeated rape at various locations such as the Highlands in Dingwall, Brora, and the Dornoch area. During one assault, he tied a woman’s breasts with a cord and subjected her to multiple rapes, even forcing her to perform sex acts on him. On another occasion, he attacked a woman by grabbing her neck and pushing her against a wall. Anderson, formerly of Fortrose on the Black Isle, has not previously served a jail term but was remanded into custody following his conviction. His sentence was deferred for a background report and risk assessment, and he was placed on the sex offenders’ register. As he was led to the cells, he called out “totally criminal.” Anderson is scheduled for sentencing at the High Court in Stirling on August 6.
