JON GRIFFITHS FROM BRISTOL SENTENCED FOR REPEATED SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
In March 2025, a disturbing case involving Jon Griffiths, a known offender from Bristol, culminated in a significant prison sentence following his arrest and subsequent conviction for a series of heinous crimes involving minors.Jon Griffiths, who originally hails from Basingstoke, was targeted by a dedicated paedophile hunting team on January 12, 2025. The team’s efforts led to his arrest after he engaged in sexual communications with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. During these exchanges, Griffiths displayed vile behavior, repeatedly requesting that the girl watch him masturbate and urging her to perform a sexual act on herself. He even went as far as sending her explicit instructions on how to do so, demonstrating a disturbing level of predatory intent.
It was revealed that Griffiths was not a first-time offender. He was already under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a Sexual Offender Register (SOR) due to previous convictions. His last known punishment was a community order, which many critics argue was an insufficient deterrent for such serious crimes. The fact that Griffiths did not disclose his activities to his employer or those close to him further compounded concerns about his potential risk to the community.
Following his arrest, Griffiths pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including breaching his SHPO, possessing drugs, engaging in sexual communication with a minor, attempting to entice a child into sexual activity, and attempting to cause a child to view sexual images and videos. These charges paint a disturbing picture of a repeat offender who continued to pose a significant threat.
On February 11, 2025, at Bristol Crown Court, Griffiths was handed a severe sentence. He was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison, a life-long order to remain on the SHPO, and a life-long order on the SOR. Additionally, all electronic devices associated with him are to be destroyed to prevent further misuse. The court’s decision underscores the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to children and the community at large.
