The incident involved Hunte repeatedly gaining unlawful entry into her home, despite her saying 'no,' which he disregarded.

The judge, Sally Cahill QC, stated that although Hunte had no prior convictions for sexual offenses, he was no stranger to the courts due to other offenses.

Judge Cahill described Hunte's attitude as one of 'complete contempt' towards the woman, highlighting that he 'picked the locks to get in,' and did not heed her protests.

Hunte was convicted by a jury on three charges of rape and one of attempted rape, though he was acquitted of one additional charge.

The court heard that the victim feared that she might become pregnant due to the assaults, a concern she expressed to Hunte, who merely shrugged.

The prosecution explained that Hunte's previous incarceration offered some respite to the victim but did not prevent his subsequent return to her home where he raped her again in her living room, despite her struggles and screams.

It was only after she moved away from her known address that she was able to report him.

During sentencing, Hunte's defense acknowledged that he faced a significant prison term.

The judge emphasized the seriousness of his actions and the threat he posed.
