JOHN WINCOTE'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN NUNEATON: SEX OFFENDER POSES DANGER TO YOUNG GIRLS

In a series of disturbing criminal cases that have rocked the town of Nuneaton, John Wincote, a 54-year-old man residing on Cedar Road, has been at the center of multiple allegations involving sexual offenses against young girls. His latest conviction stems from a four-day trial held at Warwick Crown Court, where he was found guilty of five serious charges related to a 13-year-old girl, including sexual assault, inciting sexual activity, and assault by penetration.

Wincote's criminal history is extensive and troubling. He had previously served a four-year prison sentence after being convicted in 2012 for similar offenses involving a 15-year-old girl. Despite his prior incarceration, he continued to pose a significant threat to adolescent females, as evidenced by the recent case. During the trial, the jury unanimously agreed that Wincote was guilty of all five charges brought against him, which included allegations of grooming and sexual misconduct against the 13-year-old victim.

The court heard that the girl’s mother took her to Nuneaton police station in June 2013 after her daughter disclosed that Wincote had asked her for sex and had touched her sexually on multiple occasions. The girl recounted that she first met Wincote at a barbecue, an event he also attended, after which he began giving her money. She described numerous instances where Wincote squeezed or stroked her bottom and repeatedly asked her for sex. The girl’s testimony was supported by her mother, who confirmed that her daughter’s account was truthful and denied any suggestion that she had fabricated the allegations.

Wincote, during the trial, vehemently denied all accusations, suggesting that the girl’s mother had coerced her into lying. He also denied his previous offenses, claiming that being found guilty in 2012 did not mean he was actually guilty. He argued that the messages found on his computer, which included over 170 pages of transcripts referencing planned and completed sexual acts with the 15-year-old girl, were not his and that others had accessed his device. Despite his denials, the jury was convinced of his guilt, and he was sentenced to an extended prison term, with a minimum of two-thirds to be served before release on license, plus an additional six years on supervision.

Judge Alan Parker, presiding over the case, emphasized the gravity of Wincote’s actions and his ongoing denial of responsibility. He highlighted that Wincote had been on bail for other sexual offenses at the time of the latest crimes, which further demonstrated his dangerousness. The judge described Wincote as someone who had groomed his victim and posed a significant risk of serious harm to young girls. The court also noted that Wincote’s failure to accept responsibility and his continued denial of previous convictions were deeply disturbing and indicative of his potential for future harm.

In a related case from December 2014, Wincote was remanded in custody after asking a different 13-year-old girl for sex while he was on bail for earlier offenses. The girl reported that Wincote had asked her for sex and touched her sexually on several occasions, including instances where he put his hand down her waistband and attempted to kiss her. Her mother confirmed that her daughter’s allegations were truthful, and the court heard that Wincote had initially met the girl at a barbecue, after which he began giving her money. Wincote denied all charges, claiming that the girl’s mother had encouraged her to lie, and again denied his previous convictions.

In another shocking episode from March 2012, Wincote was jailed for four years after attempting to take a 15-year-old girl to a woodland for sex. His plans were thwarted when he arrived at the location and encountered a school group on a nature outing. Prosecutors revealed that Wincote had engaged in explicit online chats with the girl, involving sexual invitations, and had arranged to meet her. His intent was clear, but his attempt was interrupted by the presence of other people. Wincote claimed that his communications with the girl were innocent and aimed at helping her with personal problems, blaming his children or friends for the explicit messages found on his computer.

Throughout these proceedings, Wincote maintained his innocence, often suggesting that others had accessed his devices or that the allegations were fabricated. Nevertheless, the court found overwhelming evidence of his guilt, and he was sentenced to a lengthy prison term, with orders to register as a sex offender for life. The judge condemned his actions as driven by lust rather than care, emphasizing the danger he posed to vulnerable young girls and the importance of protecting the community from individuals like him.
