JOHN ROBINSON FROM LANCASTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL IN LANCASTER

In April 2013, a man named John Robinson from Lancaster was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of sexual abuse involving a young girl. The case was heard at Preston Crown Court, where it was revealed that Robinson’s actions had a deeply damaging impact on his victim, who struggled for a long time to come to terms with the trauma she endured.

John Robinson, aged 46 and residing on Hala Road in Lancaster, appeared before the court to face sentencing after previously pleading guilty to seven counts of indecent assault and an additional seven charges of indecency with a child. The offences spanned several years, during which Robinson engaged in a pattern of inappropriate and abusive behavior towards the young girl.

Prosecutor Miss Zoe Salter detailed to the court that Robinson had told the victim that their secret must be kept between them, a manipulation that added to the trauma. The victim, who is now an adult, came forward to police last year to report the abuse. The court heard that the offences involved Robinson touching the girl and coercing her into touching him, actions that caused significant emotional and psychological harm.

It was also disclosed that the victim had been undergoing counseling as part of her recovery process, highlighting the lasting effects of Robinson’s misconduct. Despite the severity of the allegations, Robinson had no previous criminal record related to similar offences.

During the hearing, Robinson’s defense lawyer, Mr. Chris Evans, acknowledged that his client had accepted the allegations in broad terms when questioned by police. Mr. Evans remarked that Robinson had anticipated the charges and expressed a sense of relief that the case had been brought to light and prosecuted.

Judge Andrew Woolman, presiding over the case, emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, describing them as serious sexual abuse. He stated, “What you did to her has had a profound effect upon her view of herself and on her relationships with others.”

As part of his sentence, Robinson was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, was prohibited from working with children, and was subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order. The court’s decision underscores the gravity of the offences and the lasting impact on the victim’s life.
