JOHN NOEL FROM HUDDERSFIELD JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER IN LEEDS
A man registered as a sex offender in Kirklees has been sentenced to prison after admitting to violations of court-imposed restrictions and engaging in prohibited activities involving minors.
John Noel, aged 63 and residing in Huddersfield, was sentenced to three years in prison during a hearing at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, May 16.
The court heard that Noel had breached a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that was put into place in June 2023, which was designed to restrict his interactions with children and prevent further offenses.
In addition to the breach of the SHPO, Noel also admitted to violating a separate ban that prohibited him from working with children.
Despite this restriction, he had been operating as a private tutor, providing lessons in Maths, English, and Sciences to children aged from 5 to 17.
This activity was carried out in direct defiance of the court’s orders, and it was this breach that led to his arrest.
Police apprehended Noel on February 5, 2024, after discovering that he had concealed a device, which was a violation of his SHPO.
The authorities also charged him with the breach of the ban on working with minors.
Following his arrest, Noel appeared before Leeds Crown Court in April, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
His criminal record includes a conviction from June 2023, when he was found guilty of making indecent photographs of children and possessing extreme pornography.
These convictions prompted the court to impose the SHPO, which he subsequently violated.
Today’s sentencing underscores the seriousness with which the justice system treats breaches of court orders, especially when they involve individuals with a history of offenses against minors.
Noel’s actions have not only violated legal restrictions but also posed a significant risk to the safety and well-being of children in the Huddersfield area and beyond.
