JOHN MURDEN AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HULL

Law enforcement authorities have issued a solemn tribute to the courageous victims of the notorious sex offender John Murden, acknowledging the heinous nature of the abuse they endured.

John Murden, aged 66, from Hedon Road in Hull, has been convicted of a series of disturbing sexual crimes committed against two young children.

According to police statements, Murden exploited the vulnerabilities of these children to satisfy his own depraved urges, engaging in acts described by officers as completely abhorrent.

Murden's criminal history includes an initial conviction in 2016, when he was sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual offenses involving two other children.

During that sentencing, a judge from Hull described the offender as a depraved individual who actively sought to sexually corrupt young girls.

Despite his imprisonment for those crimes, Murden's pattern of offending continued.

In a recent development, Murden was brought back before Doncaster Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to additional charges.

These included two counts of rape of a child, two counts of indecency with a child, and eleven other counts of sexual offenses against a minor.

These revelations confirm the extent of his continued predatory behavior.

The court sentenced him to a further 12 years in prison, with the stipulation that upon release, he would serve an additional eight years on license, under strict parole conditions.

Detective Inspector Adamson, part of Humberside Police's Protecting Vulnerable People unit, commented on the case: “Murden took advantage and preyed on two children’s vulnerabilities to satisfy his own sexual deviancies, without them realising at the time that what he was subjecting them to was completely abhorrent.

I know how difficult it can be to take that first step to come forward, and I would like to commend those affected, and their families, for their bravery.

Whilst the outcome at court doesn’t take away the pain they have suffered, I hope that a sense of justice is being felt to know Murden has been locked up for the rest of his life.” The police officer emphasized that authorities remain committed to supporting victims and encouraging others to come forward.

“We take all reports of sexual offences seriously and want to reassure anyone who may have experienced anything like this — at any point in their lives — that when you’re ready to talk, you will be listened to and supported,” he added.

This recent sentence is an extension of Murden’s previous criminal record, which includes a conviction from seven years earlier.

In 2016, he admitted to multiple charges, such as four indecent assaults, sexual assault on a child under 13, sexual activity with a minor, and three other sex offenses against minors.

These crimes spanned several decades, revealing a disturbing pattern of sexual misconduct.

The impact on some victims has been profound.

Hull Crown Court heard that one young girl was so traumatised by Murden’s abuse that she attempted to take her own life.

When questioned by police following his arrest, Murden attributed his actions to alcohol consumption, stating, “Alcohol makes you do daft things doesn’t it, when you’re drunk.” During the 2016 sentencing, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC, now King’s Counsel, condemned Murden’s conduct, stating, “John Murden, you are a depraved man, and your culpability for the crimes you have committed is very high.

You sought to sexually corrupt each of these women when they were young girls.” Humberside Police continues to encourage anyone who has been subjected to rape, sexual assault, or any sexual offense, or who has knowledge of such incidents, to report these crimes.

Reports can be made via the non-emergency number 101 or, in cases of immediate danger, by dialing 999.

Law enforcement remains committed to protecting victims and bringing offenders to justice.
