JOHN MOORE FROM JOHNSTONE CAUGHT IN SHOCKING INCIDENT NEAR SCHOOL GATES

In April 2017, a disturbing incident unfolded outside Johnstone High School involving a man named John Moore, who has now been convicted and sentenced for his inappropriate behavior. The incident took place during a morning break when three 14-year-old girls were outside the school gates on Highcraig Avenue, enjoying their break from classes.

According to court reports, Moore, aged 36 and residing on Forth Place in Johnstone, approached the young students in a manner that caused them significant distress. He began by complimenting the girls, telling them they looked “lovely,” a comment that made the teenagers feel uncomfortable and alarmed. The situation escalated when Moore produced an assortment of condoms and proceeded to offer them to the girls, an act that was both shocking and inappropriate.

The girls, frightened by Moore’s behavior and the nature of his offers, quickly fled from the scene and sought refuge back inside the school premises. Their quick response and decision to alert teachers helped prevent further escalation of the incident. The school authorities were informed, and the matter was taken seriously by law enforcement officials.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, Moore was brought before the judiciary to face charges related to his actions on March 1 of that year. The court was told by depute fiscal Claire Nicholls that Moore’s conduct during the encounter left the girls feeling very uncomfortable and threatened. She detailed that the three girls had been on their way to shops on Highcraig Avenue when Moore approached them, initiating the inappropriate exchange.

It was also revealed that Moore is already listed on the Sex Offenders Register due to a previous similar offense, which added weight to the court’s decision. Sheriff James Spy, presiding over the case, showed no leniency and ordered Moore to be remanded in custody while awaiting further reports. The court scheduled a follow-up hearing for April 26, where Moore’s future legal consequences will be determined.

Sheriff Spy emphasized the importance of assessing Moore’s behavior in light of his past offenses, stating, “I think we will see how you have been performing in other orders that have been imposed on you previously. In the meantime, you will be remanded in custody.” The case highlights ongoing concerns about safeguarding young students and the importance of strict legal action against offenders.
