JOHN LOMAS FROM LIVERPOOL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN LONDON
A dangerous sex offender from Liverpool, John Lomas, was handed an extended prison sentence after a disturbing incident involving a 14-year-old girl in East London. The case unfolded at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where Lomas's behavior in court drew significant attention and concern.
During the sentencing hearing, Judge Alex Gordon described Lomas as a threat to the community, citing psychiatric evaluations that indicated he lacks insight into the harm he has caused.
The court heard that Lomas had engaged in a series of disturbing communications with his young victim via Snapchat and WhatsApp, exchanging explicit videos and messages that included Lomas penetrating himself anally and the girl performing similar acts.
These exchanges revealed an obsessive pattern of grooming and sexual interest in minors.
On April 29 of this year, Lomas traveled from his residence in Gwladys, Liverpool, to a secluded woodland area in Chingford, East London, with the intent to meet the girl.
He brought along a sex toy, which he planned to give her in exchange for a pair of her underwear, instructing her to hide the toy from her parents.
Lomas also supplied alcohol to the girl, who became intoxicated to the point of paralysis.
Taking advantage of her vulnerable state, he sexually assaulted her by bending her over a log.
The assault was interrupted when members of the public, hearing her cries of pain and distress, called an ambulance.
According to prosecutor Nicholas Wayne, the girl was heard shouting, 'Why won't the pain stop?' and 'I want to die,' as she recounted her ordeal to bystanders.
Lomas attempted to pull her away from the scene but fled once he realized police were approaching.
He was subsequently arrested and admitted to the police that he had engaged in the sexual acts and had planned the meeting, with authorities discovering the explicit messages and plans on his mobile phone.
At court, Lomas pleaded guilty to charges of assault by penetration, sexual communication with a minor, and meeting a child following grooming.
His defense argued that he had a difficult childhood, with autism and developmental disorders leading to constant medical assessments.
However, during the proceedings, Lomas objected to the charge of meeting a child following grooming, claiming he was coerced into pleading guilty by his previous legal counsel, despite admitting to the act.
Judge Gordon was unequivocal in his assessment, stating that Lomas's actions and communications demonstrated a clear intent to commit sexual offenses.
The judge emphasized that Lomas had expressed a disturbing interest in 'Daddy Dom' dynamics with young girls and dismissed any claims that he had no sexual interest in children.
Despite the defense's mention of remorse and promises to avoid future contact with minors, the judge noted the absence of any evidence suggesting a genuine willingness to change his behavior.
Ultimately, John Lomas was sentenced to ten years in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the risk he poses to children.
The case highlights the ongoing concerns about grooming and online predation, especially involving offenders who travel significant distances to commit their offenses.
The court's decision underscores the importance of strict sentencing to protect vulnerable minors from predators like Lomas, whose actions have caused significant trauma to his young victim.
