JOHN LOCKIE FROM BRENTFORD SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN LONDON AND CORNWALL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, John Lockie, a man with longstanding ties to Brentford and the London area, was sentenced to 15 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing and creating child pornography. The case unfolded at Isleworth Crown Court, where authorities revealed that Lockie, aged 44, had accumulated over 5,000 illicit images depicting children on his personal computer.Lockie’s criminal activities came to light after a thorough investigation into his digital files. The authorities uncovered a significant collection of indecent images, which included both possession and creation of such material. Lockie admitted to eight counts related to these offenses—specifically, six counts of possessing indecent images of children and two counts of producing such images. His guilty plea was entered during the proceedings held last Friday.
Prior to his arrest, Lockie was employed as a station manager for London Underground at an Acton tube station. At the time of his apprehension, he had relocated to Cornwall, further complicating the case. His background included a lengthy career at the Chiswick Child and Family Centre, a council-operated nursery in Devonshire Street, which he served for 17 years from 1984 until its closure in 2001. The facility, known by various names over the years, including the Hogarth and Belmont Under 5s club, was where Lockie worked as a children’s care worker.
Following his arrest, Lockie’s residence in Brentford was scrutinized, and authorities confirmed that he had no prior convictions related to similar offenses. A spokesperson for Hounslow Council stated, “Mr. Lockie worked for Hounslow from 1984 to 2001 as a care worker. We have checked our records very carefully; there is nothing that could raise any concerns during his time with us. We understand this news will be shocking to the families and children he worked with, so we have reached out to inform them and invited them to contact us if they have any worries or questions.”
The case has raised serious concerns about the safety and oversight of individuals working with children, especially given Lockie’s long-standing employment history in childcare. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and thorough background checks to prevent such disturbing incidents from occurring in the future.
