May 2012 Newcastle Man Jailed For Repeated Sexual Abuse Of Four Children A man who repeatedly sexually assaulted four children has been jailed. John Frederick Jones, 32, formerly of Redland Avenue, Newcastle, admitted a total of 13 offences, including two indecent assaults, two offences of indecency with a child, five offences of penetrative activity with a child and four offences of sexual activity with a child. At Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, May 3, he was given an indeterminate sentence which means Jones will have to serve a minimum of four years before he is eligible for parole. The offences happened between 2001 and 2011. Detective Sergeant Alison Tait said: “Jones subjected these children to repeated assaults over a period of years, and it is thanks to their courage in coming forward and telling police what happened, that he is now starting a lengthy jail term. “Sexual assault is a hugely traumatic experience for anyone and it is especially shocking when it involves a child. “I hope the sentence Jones has been given today will help his victims to put these experiences behind them and move on with their lives.”
