JOHN JAMIESON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN KILMARNOCK AND GLASGOW

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Kilmarnock and beyond, John Jamieson, aged 47, was convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving two young girls. The crimes spanned over a decade, with the first victim subjected to abuse from the tender age of five, and the second victim beginning her ordeal at 14.

Jamieson’s criminal activities came to light during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow, where he was found guilty of abusing one girl over a period of seven years. The abuse reportedly took place at various locations within Kilmarnock between 1995 and 2004, highlighting a prolonged pattern of predatory behavior.

In addition to the charges related to the first girl, Jamieson was also convicted of abusing another girl for two years, starting when she was 14 years old. The severity of his crimes was underscored by the presiding judge, Lady Stacey, who emphasized the gravity of the offenses. During the sentencing, she stated, “The jury found you guilty of very serious charges. You are assessed at a high risk of sexual re-offending.”

Lady Stacey took into account the lengthy duration over which these offenses occurred, as well as the young ages of the victims, when determining the sentence. Jamieson was sentenced to 10 years in prison and was ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register. Furthermore, he will be subject to community monitoring for three years following his release to ensure public safety.

As Jamieson was led away to begin his sentence, members of the victims’ families and friends expressed their outrage, shouting, “Rot in Hell you paedo bastard,” reflecting the community’s anger and desire for justice.

Following his incarceration, Jamieson has been released into the Ayr area, where he is now under supervision. His case remains a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory offenders.
