JOHN INGLIS OF EAST KILBRIDE CAUGHT WITH HORRIFIC CHILD AND ANIMAL PORNOGRAPHY

In July 2017, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving John Inglis, a 31-year-old resident of East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, whose actions shocked the community and law enforcement alike. Inglis was found to possess an extensive collection of highly illegal and depraved images and videos, including those depicting child sexual abuse and bestiality involving various animals such as dolphins, snakes, pigs, horses, and dogs.

Police investigations began after they received intelligence indicating Inglis’s internet activity was linked to accessing and downloading vile material. It was revealed that he had been using his internet connection to view and store these disturbing images. The authorities acted swiftly, executing a raid on his residence in East Kilbride, where they seized multiple electronic devices, including a Samsung mobile phone, a USB memory stick, and a hard drive. Inglis was not at home during the initial raid, but officers located him at his workplace, where they confiscated his mobile device and questioned him about the contents.

During a detailed forensic examination of the seized devices, investigators uncovered a horrifying trove of illegal content. The devices contained approximately 3,500 images and videos, some of which depicted the sexual abuse of children, including graphic and disturbing material. Among these were images showing children being sexually exploited, with some videos classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of abuse involving penetrative acts with minors. The analysis also revealed five additional images classified as Category B and fifty as Category C, all depicting child abuse.

In addition to the child abuse material, the devices contained a large quantity of bestiality content. A significant number of images and videos showed humans engaging in sexual acts with animals such as dolphins, snakes, pigs, horses, and dogs. The files were labeled with titles like ‘lolita,’ ‘beastiality,’ and ‘zoophilia,’ indicating the nature of the content. One particularly disturbing moving image depicted sexual activity between a naked 13-year-old girl and a dog, while another showed a seven-year-old girl involved in sexual acts with an adult female.

Police also discovered that Inglis had been actively searching for terms related to this type of material, suggesting premeditation and intent. The devices contained both still images and videos, with some files being easily accessible and others stored in hidden folders. The evidence was overwhelming and deeply troubling, prompting immediate legal action.

Inglis appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court, where he admitted to possessing indecent images of children and material depicting sexual acts between humans and animals. The court heard that the offenses spanned from January 2007 to July 2016, all taking place at his East Kilbride residence. The prosecution detailed the extent of the material, emphasizing the graphic nature and the illegal labeling of the files.

Sheriff Vincent Smith deferred sentencing until May 5 to allow for comprehensive background reports. The judge emphasized the importance of understanding Inglis’s circumstances, especially given his lack of prior convictions. In the meantime, Inglis was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of 28 months, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring.
