JOHN FARADAY FROM CLACTON AND YEADING SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE

In a harrowing case that spanned over two decades, John Faraday, a man with a disturbing history of abusing a young girl, was finally brought to justice. The victim, who is now 32 years old, recounted how her life was marred by Faraday’s sinister actions that began when she was only six years old. Her ordeal lasted for four long years, during which Faraday subjected her to repeated acts of indecency that left deep scars.

Faraday, who was 54 at the time of his sentencing, was apprehended in Clacton, Essex. Authorities discovered that he had changed his name from John Spearing and had relocated more than 100 miles away from his previous residence in Yeading, West London. His move appeared to be an attempt to evade detection and continue his criminal activities undetected.

The court proceedings at London's Isleworth Crown Court revealed the extent of Faraday’s depravity, as he was convicted on 26 counts of indecency. The judge sentenced him to four years in prison, a punishment that many believe was insufficient given the severity of his crimes. The victim expressed her mixed feelings about the sentence, stating, “He should have got longer but at least he is somewhere no other child can be hurt.”

The survivor shared her emotional journey, explaining how she found the strength to come forward after many years of silence. Her decision was inspired by a powerful moment of recognition while watching an episode of EastEnders. She saw Whitney Jackson, a 15-year-old character, go to court and receive justice for her own ordeal. This inspired her to summon the courage to report her abuse to the police after 25 years of suffering in silence.

She recounted her initial fears, saying, “I didn’t think anyone would believe me. But when I saw Whitney go to court and get justice, I knew I had to do the right thing.” Her testimony detailed how Faraday would manipulate her, often telling her, “This is our little secret,” and even pulling out a gun, claiming he intended to use it to threaten others, but she believed it was meant to intimidate her.

Her relationship with her mother was strained at the time, leaving her feeling isolated and without support. Now, with justice served, she hopes to find closure and move forward. She expressed gratitude for the television program that helped her find the courage to speak out, saying, “If it wasn’t for that programme, I may never have come forward. I want to say thank you.”
