JOHN DURKIN SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ABUSE IN SOUTHPORT

A man from Southport, identified as John Durkin, has been handed a severe prison sentence of 16 years following his conviction on charges related to the sexual abuse of young girls. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several years, causing lasting trauma to his victims.

Durkin, aged 53, was found guilty after two separate trials of engaging in indecent assaults on two young girls, with one victim subjected to his abuse on hundreds of occasions. The abuse reportedly took place over a period when the girl was between the ages of seven and eleven, highlighting the prolonged nature of his misconduct. In addition to the assaults on these two victims, Durkin was also convicted of attacking two other girls, further emphasizing the extent of his criminal activities.
