PENSIONER JAILED FOR STALKING WOMAN OVER THREE WEEKS WHILE ON BAIL
John Cassidy, a 68-year-old pensioner from Whittlesey, Peterborough, has been sentenced to prison after a series of stalking and harassment activities directed at a woman.
The court described how Cassidy followed her to her home, made calls, sent messages, and secretly listened to her conversations during the period from July 19, 2024, to August 9, 2024.
The defendant, who lives on Sycamore Road, initially pleaded not guilty to the charges on August 13.
It was also noted that these offenses occurred while Cassidy was on bail.
Court officials emphasized that the nature of his actions warranted a custodial sentence.
Magistrates pointed out Cassidy’s blatant disregard for court directives, resulting in a 12-week jail term and a two-year restraining order.
The restrictions prevent Cassidy from approaching the victim by any means and specifically prohibit him from going to Haven Lakeland Leisure Park in Flookburgh.
