JOHN CARPENTER FROM BARNET SENTENCED FOR HISTORIC INDECENT ASSAULTS IN BINFIELD

In a significant case that has spanned decades, John Carpenter, a 66-year-old resident of Windsor Drive in Barnet, has been sentenced to prison for crimes committed against young girls during the 1980s.

The conviction follows a detailed legal process that culminated in a two-week trial at Oxford Crown Court.

On Friday, November 22, Carpenter was officially sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in an indecent assault against a young girl in Binfield during the 1980s.

In addition to his custodial sentence, he was also ordered to serve an extra year on licence, ensuring close supervision upon his release.

Furthermore, Carpenter has been mandated to register on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period, reflecting the severity and ongoing risk associated with his crimes.

The case was brought to a close after a jury carefully examined the evidence presented over the course of the trial.

The jury found Carpenter guilty of one count of indecent assault against the girl in Binfield, a conviction that underscores the gravity of his actions during that period.

However, the jury acquitted him of one count of indecency with a child involving the same victim, as well as five additional counts of indecent assault against two other girls spanning the 1980s and 1990s.
